Teacher Responsibilities:
The teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God.
The teacher is to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an early elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher prepares students for meaningful lives by contributing to their educational and social development.
Teacher Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Integrate Biblical principles and perspectives throughout all curricula from a Biblical worldview
- Ability to effectively teach early childhood students, and provide a safe learning environment in which students flourish academically, socially, behaviorally and spiritually
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and assessments that are in accordance with established procedures
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
- Demonstrate proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to students’ various learning needs
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
- Assign and grade classwork, homework, projects and assessments
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
- Demonstrate excellent organization and time management skills
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
- Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures with consistency and equity
- Participate in department, school, and parent meetings
- Work with administration to keep parents informed of students’ discipline
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
- Use acceptable English in written and oral communication; speak with clear articulation
- Maintain clear, open and professional communication with parents
- Provide appropriate feedback to students and parents on student progress
- Ability to employ computer programs to post grades to communicate with students and parents in a timely manner
- Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy
Basic Requirements:
- Be a born-again Christian who is called by God to the teaching ministry
- Hold a current State of Maryland teaching certificate (optional)
- Preferably a college graduate with two or more years of classroom teaching experience
- Knowledge of computer technology
- Willingness to pursue higher education and continue progress in career development
