Teacher Responsibilities:

The teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God.

The teacher is to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an early elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.  The teacher prepares students for meaningful lives by contributing to their educational and social development.

Teacher Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Integrate Biblical principles and perspectives throughout all curricula from a Biblical worldview
  • Ability to effectively teach early childhood students, and provide a safe learning environment in which students flourish academically, socially, behaviorally and spiritually
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and assessments that are in accordance with established procedures
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Demonstrate proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to students’ various learning needs
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, projects and assessments
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Demonstrate excellent organization and time management skills
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures with consistency and equity
  • Participate in department, school, and parent meetings
  • Work with administration to keep parents informed of students’ discipline
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
  • Use acceptable English in written and oral communication; speak with clear articulation
  • Maintain clear, open and professional communication with parents
  • Provide appropriate feedback to students and parents on student progress
  • Ability to employ computer programs to post grades to communicate with students and parents in a timely manner
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy

Basic Requirements:

  • Be a born-again Christian who is called by God to the teaching ministry
  • Hold a current State of Maryland teaching certificate (optional)
  • Preferably a college graduate with two or more years of classroom teaching experience
  • Knowledge of computer technology
  • Willingness to pursue higher education and continue progress in career development

The teacher prepares students for meaningful lives by contributing to their educational and social development.

Teacher Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to teach general music to elementary students, which includes, but is not limited to vocal and instrumental instruction
  • Ability to organize, coordinate and orchestrate semester musical performances
  • Integrate Biblical principles and perspectives throughout all curriculums from a Biblical worldview
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies

Riverdale Baptist Church and Riverdale Baptist School are seeking a full-time Student Pastor and Christian School Chaplain. This will be a shared church and school position. As our Student Pastor, this individual will focus in on ministry to our Middle and High School students. As our School Chaplain, he will oversee our weekly Middle and High School chapels and seek to advance the discipleship ministry to our Middle and High School students. Riverdale is a multi-ethnic ministry located just outside of Washington, DC. The DC area is an exciting place to serve and live. There is much to see and experience.

Riverdale Baptist Church and Riverdale Baptist School are seeking a full-time Children’s Ministry Director and Christian School Chaplain. This will be a shared church and school position. As our Children’s Ministry Director, this individual will focus in on ministry to families and children in the church up to fifth grade. As our School Chaplain, he or she will oversee our weekly Elementary School chapels and seek to advance the discipleship ministry to our Elementary School students. Riverdale is a multi-ethnic ministry located just outside of Washington, DC. The DC area is an exciting place to serve and live. There is much to see and experience.

Riverdale Baptist Church and Riverdale Baptist School is seeking a full-time Worship Leader and Middle and High School Music Teacher. This will be a shared church and school position. As our Worship Leader, this individual will seek to advance the church’s worship through song to a multi-ethnic congregation. As our High School Music Teacher, this individual will direct our vocal and instrumental program. Riverdale is a multi-ethnic ministry located just outside of Washington, DC. The DC area is an exciting place to serve and live. There is much to see and experience.

Substitute Teacher Responsibilities:

The substitute teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God.

Substitute Teacher Job Duties:

  • Must be on time and prepared for all classes
  • Provide proper supervision for all classes
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and Christ-like manner
  • Ability to carry out the teacher’s instructions
  • Ensure that class time is productive and that students are managed well
  • Must keep accurate attendance
  • Must keep the classroom clean
  • Communicate any behavior or problems to the teacher or principal
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy
  • Use acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speak with clear articulation.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
