Favorite Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6

Principal Corine Merritt is honored and privileged to serve as the high school principal. While this is her 21st year at Riverdale Baptist School (RBS), her passion and drive to see the school excel as one of the top Christian schools in this area, has not diminished. Principal Merritt has served in many positions at RBS including Dean of Students, teacher, Middle School Principal, and Assistant High School Principal. Prior to RBS, Principal Merritt taught and coached at Laurel High School. She then took leave from the field of education while working as an IT Training Manager for a law firm. Principal Merritt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation with a minor in Science from Bowie State University; a Master of Arts degree in Christian Ministries with a cognate in Christian Leadership from Liberty University Baptist Theological Seminary; and a Master of Divinity degree in Counseling from Liberty University.

Principal Merritt and her husband, Nathan, have been married for over four decades and from their union have a son, daughter-in-law, and two beautiful grandchildren. Although she loves her family dearly, Principal Merritt also loves her RBS family. She firmly believes that God has planted her here to serve the RBS community wholeheartedly as she trusts God with every aspect of her life. Her favorite Scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Principal Merritt’s prayer is that the good work that God has started will be evident in the lives of the students not just this school year, but for years to come. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope,” Jeremiah 29:11.
