This course will introduce advanced concepts of chemistry. Topics include the structure of matter, atomic theory, chemical reactions, states of matter, reactions, kinetics, and chemical bonding. Advanced concepts and mathematical understanding of chemistry will be stressed. Laboratory observations and measurements will be used to interrelate diverse phenomena. Careful attention is given to the development of problem-solving skills, test-taking, hands-on activities, problem-based learning, critical thinking situations, and activity and lab-based learning will be incorporated throughout the course. The pace is accelerated.
